Docplanet.com: Bankruptcy may be the prescription
WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Docplanet.com admitted Thursday it may soon file for bankruptcy protection due to significant operating losses and lack of funding.

Delia's shuts down iTurf.com
Teen-oriented retailer Delia's Corp. (DLIAD) said today it is shutting down iTurf.com, it's teenage community website, due to poor performance.

The closure will result in about 25 employee layoffs and a $100,000 fourth-quarter charge.

iXL lays off 35 percent of its staff
IXL BECAME THE latest company in the troubled Internet consulting field to slash its staff when on Tuesday it announced plans to lay off 850 employees and close seven offices.

Quokka lays off 20 percent of staff
The San Francisco-based company said the cuts were in line with a 30 percent to 40 percent cost reduction strategy it outlined in its third-quarter conference call at the end of October. At the time, the company reported better than expected results: a loss of $19.8 million, 16 percent better than official analyst estimates.

IXL restructures, fires 850 employees
Internet consultancy iXL (IIXL) said today it would fire 850 employees, or 35 percent of its workforce, in order to reduce costs and attempt to reach profitability by early next year.

Dot-com layoffs hit record in November
The Internet industry saw a record number of job cuts in November, surpassing the 5,677 job cuts seen in October by 55%, according to a report released Nov. 27 by recruiter Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
